Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how your personal data is collected, used and protected when you visit eventhedoghasadhd.com (“the site”), get in touch, sign up for the newsletter, book a discovery call, or otherwise engage with Even The Dog Has ADHD. We have tried to write it in plain, human language, because being clear about what happens to your information is part of treating people with respect.
For a short summary: we only collect what we genuinely need, we never sell your data, and you are always in control of your information and your consent.
Who we are and how to contact us
Even The Dog Has ADHD is a neurodivergence coaching, podcast and media project operated by Diana V. Hayes, who is the “data controller” responsible for your personal data under UK data protection law. Diana operates as an individual practitioner.
If you have any questions about this policy, about how your data is handled, or if you wish to exercise any of your rights, you can contact us at eventhedoghasadhd@gmail.com.
This policy is governed by the law of England and Wales, and we handle personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What personal data we collect and how
We collect personal data in a few specific ways, almost always because you have chosen to give it to us. We do not buy personal data, and we do not build hidden profiles about you.
When you contact us or book through a form
If you fill in a contact form or send us an email, we collect your name, your email address, and anything you choose to tell us in your message. If your enquiry is about coaching (for example Map-Making, The Well or Wonderland), you may share details about yourself and your circumstances. You decide how much to disclose, and you are not required to share sensitive information to make an enquiry.
When you sign up for the newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your first name, so that we can send you updates and address you properly. Your signup is recorded together with the time and date so we can demonstrate that you consented.
When you book a discovery call
Discovery calls are booked through Calendly. To schedule a call you will typically provide your name, email address, a time slot, and any notes or answers you choose to add. This information is used to arrange and confirm your call.
When you leave a comment
If commenting is enabled on the site (for example on episodes of The Bark) and you leave a comment, we collect the name and email address you submit, the comment content, and your IP address and browser information, which help with spam prevention and moderation.
Server logs
Like virtually all websites, our hosting environment automatically records technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages viewed, and timestamps. These logs help keep the site secure, available and working correctly.
Analytics
We may use privacy-conscious website analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used and how to improve it. Where analytics rely on non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we ask for your consent first. If and when a specific analytics provider is in use, it will be named in our Cookie Policy.
Embedded media
Some pages include embedded content from platforms such as YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. When you interact with this content, those platforms may collect data about you as if you had visited them directly.
The lawful bases we rely on
Under the UK GDPR we must have a valid “lawful basis” for each way we use your personal data. The bases we rely on are:
- Consent — for sending you the newsletter, and for any non-essential cookies or analytics. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and doing so is as easy as giving it.
- Legitimate interests — for responding to enquiries you send us, for keeping the site secure and functioning (including server logs and spam prevention), and for understanding in a general way how the site is used so we can improve it. You can object at any time.
- Performance of a contract (or steps before entering one) — for arranging and delivering coaching and discovery calls you have requested.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep certain records (for example for tax or accounting purposes) or otherwise comply with the law.
If you share any special category information (for example details relating to health or neurodivergence) in the course of an enquiry or coaching, we process it on the basis of your explicit consent and only to provide the support you have asked for.
How we use your data
We use the personal data described above to: reply to your messages and enquiries; arrange, confirm and follow up on discovery calls and coaching sessions; deliver the coaching, group programmes and services you have requested; send you the newsletter where you have asked to receive it; moderate and publish comments where commenting is enabled; keep the site secure and free from abuse; understand in aggregate how the site is used; and meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data, and we never will. We share data only with the service providers (“processors”) that help us run the site and deliver our services, and only to the extent they need it. These include Calendly (scheduling discovery calls); our email newsletter provider (which stores subscriber details and delivers the newsletter — the specific provider has not yet been finalised and will be named here once it is); our hosting provider; and embedded media platforms such as YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts where you choose to interact with their content. We may also disclose personal data if we are legally required to do so, or to protect our rights, safety or property and those of others.
International transfers
Some of our service providers are based outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, or store data on servers located elsewhere. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / Standard Contractual Clauses, so that your data continues to be protected to a comparable standard.
How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only for as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes described in this policy, and then we delete or anonymise it. Enquiry messages are kept while we deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Coaching and booking records are kept for the duration of our working relationship and for as long afterwards as is necessary to meet our legal and accounting obligations. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs and analytics are kept for a limited period, then deleted or aggregated.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to be informed; the right of access; the right to rectification; the right to erasure; the right to restrict processing; the right to data portability; the right to object; and the right to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, please email us at eventhedoghasadhd@gmail.com. We will respond within the time limits set by law, normally within one month, and exercising your rights is free of charge in the great majority of cases.
Automated decision-making
We do not make any decisions about you based solely on automated processing, and we do not carry out profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Children’s data
This site and our services are aimed at adults and are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Cookies
This site uses cookies and similar technologies. How they work, what we set, and how you can control them are explained in full in our Cookie Policy. Where cookies are non-essential, we ask for your consent before they are set, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Third-party links
Our site contains links to other websites and embeds content from third-party platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites and services. When you follow a link to, or interact with content from, another site, we encourage you to read its own privacy policy.
Your right to complain
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s supervisory authority for data protection. You can reach the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling their helpline on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page occasionally so you stay informed about how we protect your data.
